Can't fathom this one.
« on: April 30, 2013, 20:40 »
Today I was just heaping up a bit of soil around my Desirees in case of frost. I found a spud in the  soil I was heaping around the desirees. It was a Kestrel, about egg sized. Not a volunteer as this bed had broad beans in last year. A really fine looking spud it was too with lovely purple markings. Just one very sturdy "chit" coming off it, but very pale. Took it in and washed it and it was in perfick condition. It's not now, I've just eaten it raw. Lovely flavour. Wish I knew how it got there.

it was probably a spud someone threw over from their plot cos they did something unsavory with it.

When we were kids we'd always scrounge a few raw bits whenever mum was cooking spuds. Just don't eat the green ones.
