A Happy bunnie.
« on: April 21, 2013, 19:24 »
Hi guys,

I got myself 10 2 years old Asparagus Connovers Colossal crowns back in the beginning of febuary due to cold weather, work and family commitments i didn't get them in the ground when i wanted too, they sat in my shed in the dark for far to long.  I finally got them in there new home the beginning of the month, i was praying that they would survive the time in the dark.  I was up the plot today and saw some good signs.  There was a shot appering from all 10 but this was the biggest.

Do i have to leave them for a year to let the roots build, then the year after only a few from each crown and then what ever the year after that OR because they 2 years old rather then one is it any different?

Thanks

Dear God, Please can you stop the wind and rain and bring on the nice weather. Amen

i might just leave them all this year and let them get well established before harvesting any.

I'd leave them as well. It's tempting but new plants really do need to build their strength or they take much longer (in years) to catch up.

2 year old crown's do not establish as well as 1 year one's , so i would deffo not pick any this year but give them plenty of TLC.
