Hi BQ - good to see you back on here again!  :)

Growing Asparagus peas has been discussed here a few times, and the consensus seems to be that although they have very pretty flowers the pods are a bit of a disappointment, both quantity- and taste-wise, but needless to say not everyone agrees!  ::)  ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I grew them last year, and I think I'm one of the rare people who likes the taste. My plants were quite prolific. I got a plastic bag of pods - but it was quite difficult to get them before they got too big and bitter. And they are absolutely beautiful flowers.

You gotta eat them from 30-40mm in length - no longer as they become too stringy.

I am growing these for the first time. 6 on the go, might sow more.
General concencus on the pods is to pick at 1" long, over that they are too tough.
lightly blanched, cooked in butter and sprinkle of salt.
Not too concerned about the edible qualities anyway, the typical pea-bean flowers are noted on these, wavy deep red and quite prolific.
Tough little plants ( for an annual) that grow on a very low compact bush that need no staking, preferring full sun.
They do well in pots troughs and containers and have even been used in hanging baskets.
I think they are certainly worth a try, even if they are a disappointment the cost is minimal, they do not take up much room or demand much care and not sure about this but they probably fix nitrogen into the soil so will make a green compost when they are done as well.
Yes, I think they are definitely worth a try.

I'd say a bit smaller than that even, and they take no time at all to go from small to big &stringy

I grew them a few years back.  Not overly keen, but they were nice picked small, as has already been mentioned, lightly steamed and tossed in a little cream and freshly ground pepper!
