Manure question
« on: April 10, 2013, 08:49 »
At the weekend we had a delivery of a mix of pig and horse manure (right next to my allotment and underneath the fence the local cherubs jump over....result :) ). It's supposed to be 3 years rotting but a lot of it is rather fresh, will the acidity matter? I've left some do dry out for a few days and plan to dig it in this morning

If it fresh you need to rot it down first, the pig poop is very strong, i know this from experiance, i used it a bit to fresh and couldnt grow anyting where i put it.

if it doesn't smell line ...............errr.................manure, then it's ok to use it.

If it still smells then you'll have to leave it in a heap to rot down and use it in the autumn spread on the beds  ;)
