Its a bit cold at the minute let them grow a bit bigger, then plant them in final position. If they are getting too big for their pot, transplant them on to a bigger pot.
Their not a fussy thing to grow shaun, when its half decent weather bang them in ,try and stop the root fly with a collar or something, give them the occasional liquid feed if you want to and thats about it,i love growing cabbages myself  :)

Good advice from Maxie.

Also if you have them growing in a warm place indoors put them outside on a warmish day and bring them back in over night. I wouldn't plonk them from warmth straight out into their growing positions =- too much of a thermal shock.

Give them a chance to get acclimatised by daily outings first.

if there is any club root on your plot i would let them get much bigger, as already said transplant to bigger pots so you will have bigger rootballs to give them a better start. good luck.

I think letting them get much bigger is a good idea before exposing them to the cut and thrust of the plot. They will need hardening off for about a week before planting out.  I cover mine with Enviromesh as they will get eaten by rabbits and/or pigeons if I don't.  Then there's the pheasants, deer .......
