I know this is well covered but a little advice please .... after a disastrous previous year where my cabbages were munched by caterpillars I netted this year with some success ... checking the underside of the leaves I see no yellow eggs but in the little hollows where the water gathers between the stem and the leaf branch are blocks of greeny/grey eggs ... I think these are slugs or snails eggs (I believe some people eat snail eggs like 'caviar') .... I have read hundreds of articles on control but only have a few plants and don't want to spend £10 on nematodes to save £5 worth of cabbages ... can I kill the eggs (I read somewhere that a dilute ammonia solution or salt is a cost-effective killer) - anyone any experience please ?

Greeny/grey 'eggs' may be frass (poo) from caterpillars or slugs.

Slugs eggs are usually white/pearly looking and are laid in damp/shady places.

What size are the holes in your netting? They have to be less than 7mm to keep the small cabbage white out.
