Should I delay pruning autumn raspberries?

Likewise should I hold off on my raspberries, seeing as it's so cold, and prune them maybe in a couple of weeks?

I think you should do them asap  ;) If you can manage doing it in the cold is another matter  :D

I am sure the cold will not harm them. Usually I do them in January.

Mine are showing the first signs of new shoots. If it comes mild weather they will start into growth.

If you don't do it very soon, they will waste energy trying to revitalise the old stems as well as grow the new ones you want

So on with your coat, out with your gloves and secateurs, and off you go  :D

Thanks everyone. I got down there today (thermal underwear, fleece, windproof jacket and gloves) and pruned the lot. Very satisfying!

I pruned half the autumn raspberries early February and have left the other half as I have heard you can get two crops from one season in this way.

Has anyone else had any success with this or should I get down there and prune the rest down?

The summer crop is of quite poor quantity and quality compared with the autumn one, and I also found it was mostly robbed by birds, who don't seem to bother at all with the later ones.

Even with established plants some of their energy must be diverted to the summer crop - I don't think it's an experiment that is worthwhile overall.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
