This was growing behind an overgrown patch loganberrys. Dont want to dig it up if its something nice  :)

I'd say a current too.  Not sure which one though.

If it's black currant the wood will smell of blackcurrants when rubbed with your hand.

blackcurrant probably but it needs pruning. Although the buds are starting to swell it's not too late to dig it up and move it to a new home if it's not in a good position.

it is in a bit of an awkward spot so ill try and dig it up tomorrow and find it a more covenient home, i do have everything for making jam so ill keep my fingers crossed that the general consensus of blackcurrant is right and hope the next jam making attempt goes better than the last time i tried!  ::)

it was pumpkin jam from my grans recipe, it burnt, then wouldnt set, then when it did eventually set noone would eat it except my dad who would slice it with a knife and then lay it on toast  :lol: it didnt really taste very nice either... :unsure:

That white new growth makes me think of red currant --mine are like that

Aunty's test of smelling it works well and you'll know for sure.

They need different pruning so it is worth a little sniff imho  :D
