I've been told by one of  my allotment Buddies that sheep manure Is better than horse manure
Is this true?

It's got a slightly higher proportion of potassium that horse manure. It's also a bit more concentrated. Other than that, the advantages are mainly practical. It comes in a nice pelleted form, making it easier to work in and giving it a high surface area when added to a heap to rot down. It also doesn't smell as much (I'm told). It's not a plant wonder fuel, but it does have some benefits.

lot of sheep are on straw currently to lamb - that is probably where the sheep manure will come from.Good stuff if you can get it. Even the pellets make a good liquid feed hung in a sack in water for a couple of weeks
