I have a recipe (spicy beef casserole) that asks for red wine vinegar.
Now, I have cider vinegar, sherry vinegar and red wine. Do I need to buy red wine vinegar? Or can I mix and match? If it matters, it will be my first attempt in a slow cooker, and I gather that you need more flavouring than an oven casserole.
It won't break the bank but it will take up cupbpard space!

Cider vinegar is a slightly milder taste than red wine vinegar, but I think you could sub them without much difference in the end result.  Sherry vinegar is quite different from both, so will alter the end result by more.

A splash of red wine isn't going to hurt, but won't give the sharp edge to the flavour that vinegar will
