I now have a new allotment and I am well on the way to completing the set up of it.  I have plenty of poles and netting, but I would like to know what plants other than brassicas and freshly sown seeds need protecting from the hundreds of rooks, wood pigeons and butterfly that are in the area?  I will be planting the usual veggies and will be covering the strawberries, redcurrent and raspberries when fruiting.  So do the whole lot or can some veggies be left?

All the brassicas can get decimated by pigeons. They deffinately need netting.

Also need to net all your fruits like currants, cherries, blueberries, raspberries, even strawberries - the flying beasts will steal them all, even before they're ripe.

And be sure to firmly tack down the bottoms as they'll simply squeeze under and walk right in
