So what next???
« on: July 26, 2012, 20:19 »
Well, so far I have managed to get some successes from my first year as a lottie holder.

Peas, onions, garlic, gooseberries. lettuce, beetroot and raspberries all done well. Some success with potatoes, broccoli and cabbage.

So, my question is......what to plant next.

My carrots were a wash out, as was cauliflower and sprouts.

Is it too late for carrots? If not, which variety?
Also which variety of cabbage shall I overwinter?
Which potatoes can I put in for autumn? Just Charlottes?

I have some salad leaves to put in but wondered what else I can start (assuming the weather has picked up now!!)

Thanks

Autumn King for carrots

I can echo that  :D

Also turnips, khol rabi, curly kale, winter and spring caulis, coriander, and florence fennel as well as your cabbages

This year I have Tundra for winter cabbage - savoy type, with Frostie (pointed one) and Spring hero (ballhead) Thye did well last year so am sticking to the same

Caulis are Drakar (harvested Dec/Jan) and Walcheren Winter 3 Armado, which were ready around May this year from an autumn plating out.

Hope that helps

Hiya, is it to late to sow the winter cabbage and caulis? Was looking to buy the plants, but if it's not too late to sow this year I may as well sow them myself? Is there enough time?
