hi all

ive just moved and have the luck of having space for some veg beds which ive set up already.

now i got some strawberrys that i got last year and have done a crop this year. now ive had about 40 runners that are now nice and big


now i only want to have 1 bed of strawberries and i want to know if its best to plant up the runners and give the older ones away or to keep the older ones and give the runners away and then just keep the runners next year as i know plants are only good for 2/3 years

Personally I always treat a plant as either for fruit or for runners. Because of that as you have let runners this year, I would keep the new plants, then for the next couple of years not let any runners come off the plant in favour of fruit, then when ready to replace let the runners come at the end of the fruition season ready for next yr.

If you have any space, or even in the same bed you could do half and half of established plants to new plants and rotate everycouple of yrs
