Hi  my 10mth old Ancona has still not laid since last thursday (shame as her eggs are the nicest) I gave her a warm bath for 30 mins on monday afternoon & dried her well.  She is eating/drinking/walking etc all ok and her eyes are bright.  I thought I felt a lump near her vent on monday  but that seems to have gone but her undercarriage seems warm.  Any advice from you more knowlegeable peeps??? Thanks

Try comparing her temparature with one of your other hens.  Could she be going broody or is she starting to molt?  It could also be that she has laid a softie and the hens have eaten it, sometimes there is no sign of any egg when eaten.

She has always had a 'baldy' bum  but she isnt moulting.  There have been a couple of soft shelled eggs in the coop when Ive been to check but not for a couple of weeks (that ive seen anyway) but its impossible to say which hen laid them  I ll just keep an eye on her and see how things go over the next day or so I might even try another warm bath.  Thanks


After another warm bath  ...success!!!!  10mins later she lays a perfect white egg (not keeping it tho )   At least she is OK!!!!
