1) In the first pic, the second pair of leaves on the plant in the pot nearest the camera look as though they could be citrus leaves - a bit pointed. I had an orange tree grown from pips when I was 10 years old. It lasted for years, never gave me a single fruit and I was very proud of it. :D

2) Yes

3) I don't think the leaves are the right shape for hops.

Just a side comment about the compost in the pots in the first post - it has shrunk away from the edges of the pot so water will just run down the edges.  I'd gently ruffle the surface of the compost to re-fill the gaps, then water them again.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks for the replies :)  i'll sort that out tomorrow yorkie, thanks for the tip.

Also im growing a cactus plant (dragon fruit), should I be adding sand to the compost to mimic its natural enviroment somewhat? I have a little varmiculite also somewhere so was thinking a mixture of sand, verm and compost, what do you think?

And is there anyway to retrieve seeds from bolted plants? I have some spinach that has bolted also.

 :)

Don't know about the cactus - suggest you re-post on the General Gardening board.

The realseeds website has lots of info on harvesting seeds, I think.  Bear in mind that if you harvest the seeds from an F1 variety, they won't come true to this year's plants.
