most people are the same, it's just not warm enough.

Have a look here

Yep me too. Mine were growing beautifully in modules but suddenly the tops turned yellow and rotted off. Underneath there were really long roots.  I managed to plant 7 plants out of 18.  I sowed some direct into the planting area when I planted the 7 but so far only a few have germinated and are just poking their little heads up. Whether either will amount to anything remains to be seen.  My favourite crop too.

Some on our site have good patches of corn though, so some have been lucky  :)

mine are outside now and about 18" high but they don't look well - leaves yellowing. Not the best weather for sweetcorn I'm thinking  :(
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

I am much further North, so mine were planted out under a Lidl cloche and are going like a rocket. They are semi-tropical plants and need protection if the weather is not good.

They like the roots really warm, last year I covered the ground with one of those cheapo mini polytunnel things and cut a whole for the young corn to grow through - it worked well, it was the earwigs and plot thief that caused me problems last year  >:(

Havent done that this year and the 20 or so in the ground look unhappy as well but the ones I have being really looking after I have kept potting on and they are still in the green house are doing great!!! Im reluctant to harden them of and move them out in the hope of some summer like weather!!
