hey, its been a few days since we weedkilled the allotment and it has rained somewhat since aswell, but some of our hens escaped the run today and ate some of the greens that had been done. Most only had a few since we had only been gone a couple of minutes and were just eating our flowers although our rooster and two hens got around the back and ate quite a few (they refused to go back into the pen...) I am really worried about them  :(. Will the weed killed plants be safe enough since its rained? Any advice on how do deal with this would be appreciated.

You could ring a poultry friendly vet with the details of the weedkiller contents and strength for some advice.

hello again, i took your advice and was passed around to different vets in the area, eventually i was passed to the veterinary hospital who's vet assured me that the chickens should be fine since the weed killer will have dried by now and even rinsed away by the rain. They said to keep an eye on them though just in case they lose their apetite or dont seem themselves and if this does occur to take them to the veterinary hospital and they will advise me further after examination. I was just very panicky and scared of losing them since i only got my new girls last week and love them all already.
Thanks :)

That is good news.  Hope that they behave and don't give you any more scares in the future.   :)

You may wish to consider not eating the eggs for a while ???

Glad you're all OK now. One suggestion for everybody; keep the label/container for a while after using pesticides and give that information to anybody you contact. If the active ingredient is known then a lot of worry can be avoided or proper measures taken for chooks, cats, children or spouces.
