It has been really hot today up in the Brecon Hills   I give my birds water from a water butt, with ACV one week  a month and then the rest of the time with a clove ogf garlic.  They have all been thirsty today as the water is down in their drinker. They freerange during the day & then at about 6.30ish I put them intothe elctrically fenced off area so they can go to the coop when they want (as long as its before 9 when the door closes)  Nothing unusual today  except that Zsa Zsa, the Ancona)  spent at least 10 mins drinking water. She drinks, taps the drinker with her beak, coughs some up and then starts the process again.   Is she just thirsty cos its hot today   or is this leading somewhere?  She is eating, poohing and laying as normal and the only thing extra they have had today is an apple  which they love.?

I would just keep an eye on her but chances are she was just thirsty. Keep an eye her poohs.

Thanks.  It has, and still is, quite hot up here today  and during the day when I have been to the field they seemed not sure what to do with themselves.  They made dirt beds and went in the rain shelter where it was cool   so maybe this is their first experience of hot weather as they are all under 8mths old.....

I'm sure they will be fine and it sounds as though they have shade which is important. From the title I thought you were going to be looking for a poultry AA site!

Is there an Eaters Anonymous site???  Mine are like a pack of piranahs!!!  When I give them apple I usually slice it and hand feed it so each one gets some. Yesterday I took the apple whole & didnt have my knife with me so I just let them have it whole. I honestly dont think it lasted a minute. !!!!!
