 Hi all,
Thought I'd try Broad Beans as I've never tried them before,but I can't find out how tall they grow or if they need support?anyone know please?

Hi Flump,

Yes, you will need to stake them before they grow too big as the wind can break the storks when they are heavy with pods.

They will probably grow about 3 ft high.

Put a few canes or small posts round them and run some string either side to stop them falling over. Usually 1 string is sufficient but if they decide to grow tall you may need 2.

Remember to put something on the cane tops so that you go not poke your eye out when picking or weeding.

You can tie canes along each side instead of the string. I find it is better.

i usually let my b beans grow and then just cane and string when they start getting tall , 3-4ft is about the limit ,  one of my favourites and a good cropper
