Soft shelled eggs
« on: May 17, 2012, 09:09 »
I have 3 hens in my garden. One is laying  soft shelled eggs about 3 times per week. What can I do? I supply them with oyster shell and grit.

How old are they? It might be worth cutting back on all treats for a while so that they have to eat their layers pellets or mash - this will help with their calcium intake. As they free range they should get enough greens to help them absorb the calcium  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

They are 1 year old.  I got them as point of lay pullets in June 2011. They have been laying almost constantly since then.
