I still haven't sowed my carrots yet, cause of weather and time, but hoping to, today. Last season, we had carrot fly and some of the crop was affected. I have bought some enviromesh to combat this. Would it be best to cover carrots straight away after sowing or would it be ok to leave for a week in order to get a frame made to drape mesh over?

I cover mine once they germinate so you will have time to build your frame

personally i cover mine as soon as i have sowed the seeds, dont like give them half a chance!

Either way, don't leave any gaps at ground level will you ?
