....you crossed a jersey giant hen with a legbar cockerel.

i put the rescued cockerel in with my girls last week and he's taken charge. i'm pretty sure the eggs are fertile as i cracked one the other day and found a minute kidney shaped (and coloured) little blob with small white tendrils coming off it.....it was about 4/5mm wide.

one of my sister's brahma is currently broody and i'm thinking of putting half a dozen under her.

just wondered what the result might be.....one is a dual purpose bird, the other auto-sexing and blue egg gene carrier. also wondering what the colouration would be black crossed with cream legbar.....hmmmmm

any ideas?

Licorice Allsorts comes to mind.     I think you would have to just wait and see.     We will expect photos of the new hybrid of course.

i'm not sure if we'd have a successful hatch. it would just be an experiment to see whether she'll sit for 21 days or not. she's never hatched and apparently she does spend a couple of hours off the nest and isn't sitting tight.

ideally i'd have pure jerseys but since thats not the case, pot luck it is then!

She might not be sitting tight if she knows the eggs aren't viable.  Both my bantams hadn't hatched before but they were brilliant.
