first new potatoes
« on: April 28, 2012, 22:05 »
Even if the weather is rubbish at the moment it's not all doom and gloom. Today I harvested the first new potatoes of the year. Lady Christl planted in a sack in the greenhouse ten weeks ago. The taste was fantastic so what would you rather do, pay £3 a kilo for Jersey Royals in the supermarket or grow your own.

Soooo jealous!

We've got pentland javlin in the poly', they're about 6' high at the mo and as wondering when I could have a furtle?

Because what worries me is, I hope they're out in time for my tomatoes going in......

Alan, It's a south facing lean-to attached to the house so it gets a little heat from the house wall but that's all.

That's a good crop there SC

We have a couple of bags in the greenhouse and have to wait another two weeks by my calculation before exploring.....

.... but I'll wait as it'll be worth it.
