Using a recprocating saw to cut down a shed
« on: April 25, 2012, 21:31 »
Hi,

Has anyone had experience with cutting up sheds with a reciprocating saw?

Like this:
http://www.tools4trade.com/d-4301260-makita-jr3050t-reciprocating-saw-240v-sp.aspx

We have got a large 20 x 10ft shed in our garden that needs removing and thought it might work to cut up the walls in place so they can be put straight in the skip.

The wood is 1" think in some places (wood from a flatbed lorry)

Thanks
Damon

Thats exactly what I bought mine for originally.  :D  Along with some bi-metal blades. I bought a very cheap one (around 20 quid I think) and it gets used for all sorts like cutting tree roots out of the ground   ;)

It made short work of the shed, just keep the blade well in otherwise they tend to vibrate a bit.

Used one often on fence panels - slower than a chain saw but will do the job.  Just make sure that you have the right blade for the job.  With  a pruning saw blade have cut 4" branches.
