We have a neighbour who comes often to look at our chickens -  they run up to the fence when they see her coming!! - and she pokes long pieces of grass through the fence for them...I know it's good for them to peck about on grass but to be 'forced fed' - well not forced but you know what I mean !! - but not sure if it's something I should encourage?  Have watched them eat it and they do seem to leave the long stalks....is this ok or should I perhaps discourage her by perhaps leaving a container of corn by the fence for her to feed them that instead?

I'm sure I've heard that long grass isn't good for them  i would go with the pot of corn good idea

I'd be politely asking my neighbour not to feed my girls....i like to know exactly what they're eating and where its come from.

Grass is good fort them but it should be short grass.  Long grass can cause an impacted crop.
