egg fertility
« on: April 17, 2012, 09:14 »
hi, i had to get rid of my cockerel two weeks ago as we are not allowed them so i kept him as long as i could but once the complaints started he had to go, my question is, how long after he has gone will the eggs the girls are laying remain fertile? ie will the eggs they lay today, two weeks after he went be fertile still?

yes they could be, I seem to remember reading that they can remain fertile for 3 weeks after mating which is why when I culled my 15 cockerels I had to hope that none of my girls went broody during the following month.
Staffies are softer than you think.
