I am adding 4 young hens to my existing two when my new walk in run arrives. I have bought a small ark and run as a quarantine coop but it will be very small for four new birds whereas the older two will be in the much larger, extended run.
I am moving the original house and run onto new ground so would it be ok to use the new quarantine house and run for the older hens and put the new hens into the enlarged, original one?
I'm not sure what this will mean for my older girls in terms of pecking order upon re introduction into their old house with the new ones already settled in.
Or am I  fretting too much?

Hi Jane,  I don't think that there would be a right and wrong way of doing it.  Neutral ground is a good idea when introducing 2 lots of quail as neither think it is their territory.  I suppose you could apply this to other birds.  Is there any way you can relocate both your old and new girls after the quarantine period?

I'm afraid my garden isn't large enough to move the run to neutral ground- I've had to relocate compost bins and veggie bed for quarantine run.
