Yes there is some interesting reading on there, I was interested in his breeding information for a dual purpose bird. Mind you I am still toying with the idea of getting a couple of Australorps as they are suppose to be very good egg layers.

Our oldest chicken who was three yrs + and had been a good layer suddenly started laying soft eggs and had been for a couple of months or so ..then on Sunday I remarked to hubby that she hadn't laid a soft egg  - ie no egg at all for the last week or so then on Monday morning when we went to let them out she was  dead in the coop ...she showed no sign of being ill whatsoever and had enjoyed her last day roaming the garden ...whether the soft egg laying was a fact or not we'll not know.. I'd rather a natural death than being taken by a fox

RIP little Millie :)

Sorry to hear about Millie.
I have better news.....today there were TWO hard white eggs! Going back through my diary Cadbury has been laying softies for nearly 12 weeks, then nothing for a week or two. Hopefully she's going to be back to normal now.
Only thing is there was a soft egg in the clutch which must come from Nestle because of the shape.
Hope she's not starting now!!!!
