Digital Thermometer Warning
« on: March 06, 2012, 17:19 »
I purchased two new digital thermometer and hydrometers for my hatching incubator, they were not cheap and were different brands.
Took 10 eggs out of my suro at day 18, all showing healthy growth and movement and they all suffocated due to the fact both thermometers were not giving true readings.
I went to the pet shop and purchased a normal thermometer £1.49, and it is showing that my incubator has been running at 39 deg if not higher  :tongue2:
One of the digital thermometers was reading 36 deg and the other 37.5, I wont be using these again.
I feel quite sad and a little guilty, at one point the eggs were chirping probably from heat stress. An expensive lesson but well learnt!!! :(
