What is best to put a shed on concrete flags or pallets or something else?

Pallets make a lovely rat hotel, my old shed was proof of that.

Mine sits on some seriously strong lengths of angle iron which in turn are supported by very dodgy-looking brick piers (just enough to keep the whole thing off the ground.)

Been there for at least 30 years I reckon so not doing too badly (I wouldn't want to pay retail prices for the metal these days; I'd try a scrap or recycling yard if doing it now.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I use breeze blocks, do 3 or 4 rows of them and bury them half into the ground, makes it dead easy to use a spirit level to check that there level :D

Ours is on a concrete slab, made of all the stones from the first digging of our plot, used as hardcore down, then concrete over the top.

Stands on wooden timbers, but sealed all around with them at the edges as well as underneath to keep out the rats -- so far so good  :D

Hi, sorry to bump this old thread but I've been looking through various 'shed base' threads and I'm interested to know - Jamie - when you use breeze blocks, do you lie them on anything (sand or compacted rubble) or do you just bury them straight into soil but levelling them off?

I've got a pretty flat plot so the less effort (and cash) I can get away with spending on the base the better really!
