Hi Dave.  There's no need to worry.  When a hen starts laying this can sometimes happen.  It certainly happend a few trimes with my hens.  Just make sure they have a supply of oyster shell/grit available.  Someone else more knowledgable will be along to offer further advice soon ...

They do take a while to settle down when they are young.  So long as they have access to their layers food all day (as well as the oyster shell which helps with the quality of the egg shells, the grit helps the food break up) and you keep other foods to a minimum shared out late in the day when they've got all the goodness they need from their layers food, they should get the hang of it and start laying you lots of lovely eggs (if we ever get any sunshine!!)

Yes dave, like Kym said, with new point of lay birds, it can take a while for their systems to get used to laying, and even older hens can have the odd egg.

Don't worry about unless it a continuous thing, but it should only happen occasionally.
