Buff Orpington Laid for first time
« on: January 10, 2012, 19:08 »
I thought I would let you know that Mabel has laid her first egg today at the grand old age of 8 months old. I have noticed the obvious reddening of comb and wattles, but most distinctly the crouching started a week of so ago, with the other orpington starting to crouch in the last couple of days.
Its lovely now as previously they werent that keen on being handled but now they just run up to me and squat and I am getting some lovely cuddles.
One thing i should check i sprayed with scaly leg spray yesterday as it appears the other orp to the one laying has it, so i sprayed them all. Are we safe to eat the eggs. I guess we are as there is no mention on the bottle.
