Yes, that's something I'm wondering too, and I'll have to keep an eye on it. But if you're using it to preserve crops, as an alternative to freezing, then in one sense you're kind of exchanging a one-off cost for an ongoing cost because you only need to dry them once but you keep on paying for the freezer running cost right up until you use the food. I would personally rather be using the freezer space for bulk buying meat, which I have to buy but can get cheaper that way.

Yes, good point. I am seriously considering getting one as, in addition to herbs etc, i could make healthy treat for my dogs. I usually only buy them dried fish/chicken treats when they are on offer, but if I could make my own, so much the better!  :D

Not for herbs and leaves they don't  :)

They take less power than having the oven on, I would assume

Do these dehydrators cost much to run? Just wondering, as they have to be on so long to do the job.  :)

They seem to be about 250W.  So 4 hours' use will be approx 1KW, which is 1 unit of electricity - maybe between 5 - 15p per unit?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

After placing the order, I had an email from Westfalia saying the model was going to be out of stock for longer than expected (huh? didn't say out of stock on the site) and new stock won't be in until the end of the month, so looks like I'll be waiting a while for it. And the digital model is no longer showing on their site either.

And I had a batch of mushrooms I'd grown that I desperately wanted to try out in it :(
