Arrested Development
« on: December 13, 2011, 11:38 »
Our Pekin, Fluffy is only just starting to colour up in the face and grow a bit of a comb. We have three other pekins from a different breeder that are larger, and all are red combed but in theory about 8 weeks younger than fluffy.

Given that the various birds we got from Fluffy's breeder all seem to be developing late is this just a natural oddiity or should I be looking out for health problems that may have been to do with poor diet etc especially as I got them onto layers straight away as had been told they were POL. I did change to growers very quickly when realised the birds were probably a lot yonger than claimed.

You can get runts from a hatch and fluffy may be one of these, however the breeder may have also used a pullet egg instead of a hen that was in her second egg laying year and this will result in the chicks being smaller  :(
Staffies are softer than you think.
