Try googling for bannock cake (bannock bread appears to be more flat, less sweet, and fried).
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Breads are a very regional foodstuff. Why not ask bakers in the local area where you used to get this one?

It also sounds similar to Bara Brith which is made in Wales and tastes delish!

The Bannock I'm familiar with is an unleaven bread that is cooked using the heat of a camp fire.

Quote
from Parliamo Scots:
"Bannock" - a round, flat cake made from oatmeal or barley meal which has been baked on a "girdle" or flat iron plate, over the fire.
A "Selkirk bannock" however, is a rich fruit loaf which originated in the Border town of Selkirk.

One recipe here, but there are more out there  ;)
