Dug the first parsnip up today  :shock: it looks like an alien I,m sure the soil wasn,t manured beforhand but that was spring and i,v a job remembering what i did yesterdaylol

Yes and no, marg. That's about 3 parsnips grown into each other. Have you thinned? :wink:

them is forked ,but because they wasnt thinned  and looking at the soil its a heavy clay . i reckon they found no place to go down singly in the compacted soil so also split .believe me ur not alone in having this .... forgetting to thin them ios a common problem   :oops: loads of sand and manure now will bring that soil into great condition for brassicas next year and roots the next  :wink:
