I'm not very good on tech stuff but I think I have 'shunk' this photo so it's the right kind of size for posting on here.  Let's just see if it works eh?

Anyhow, as you know I had the choice of taking half or all of it.
We measured it at 45 x 45ft.  The top half of the plot hasn't been used as recently as the bottom half and it's of this more recently used area that I am hopfully showing you on this photo.

If it works I'll add more pics for you to see more...if you're interested that is, everyone else I know is bored of me bleeting on about allotments  ::)

Anyhow, lets see what happens when I POST.

YAY!!!  I think it worked!!!  ha ha ha!  Oh dear, all this with a hangover too  :D

Would you like to see more?  Or is looking at weeds all a bit dull?

Very nice!

Me and my wife took on our allotment in April, was basically just bare grass and weeds - been hard work marking out and digging beds but been well worth it, had quite a bit of produce from it this year already. Looks a bit empty at the moment but looking forward to next year, hoping to get lots more stuff growing :)

I thought so too. Half would just have been a bit of a squeeze once we'd got a shed etc.

Right, now this photo is of the whole plot, as you can see it's on a slight slope and the top area hasn't been worked recently, hence a fair bit of weedage going on  :)  That was the area I wasn't going to have, but now we'll just spead out a bit and have a shed etc. If someone else was to came along and take the top half I was worried I'd feel a bit blocked in. Plus with all the trees I'm worried enough about light but it's been a productive little area up to now so I don't think I need to worry too much.

There are lots of things planted in there, I hope and pray the chap who is giving it up, bless him, leaves it all as it is for us, it's perfect. Behind me are lots of apple and damson trees, a sort of no mans land that if you manage to beat the others to it you can snaffle a load of goodies from there too.  ;)

Oooooh, I can't wait for next year then. I can't actually believe we'll be eating our own veggies very soon.  What was the first thing you harvested? x x

I can't remember the very first thing - think it might have been broad beans (which I don't really like but my wife does..heh). We've had lots of potatoes (still have a fair amount stored away, can't remember the last time we bought any), beetroot, spring onions, shallots, peas and some pak choi. Have just planted some garlic and hoping to get onions in early next year (onions and potatoes are probs the veggies we eat the most). Have leeks still in the ground along with some kohlrabi, and some fennel under plastic cloches. Also have some raspberry canes and strawberry plants on order, hopefully will show up soon, have an area ready to plant them too. Really looking forward to next year, still have plenty of digging to do yet though :)

(sorry for the essay!)

never bored with looking at allotment pictures, going through Italy on a coach a few years ago I was so excited to see their allotments and when my cousin recently posted some views from a hot air balloon trip I thought the ariel view of some allotments was f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s

Always good to see plot pictures --- looks like it won't take too much to return it to full production  :D

It looks a delightful plot and hopefully won't be too long to get it into shape.  How about finding a little space for some garlic cloves.  Evenif your frends get fed up of you chatting about your new plot, we will all love hearing about it  -

exciting isn't it  :D  :D  :D
