Hi Everyone,

I've had an offer of some manure for my allotment. It's a mixture of pig,chicken, and alpaca. No horse manure in it so no seeds, however there are remnants of hay. Its been through a shredder to rot quicker, any reasons I shouldn't take up this offer and use as my fertiliser going forward ?

Any thoughts would be great,

Sounds good to me, I would grab some.

I'd grab it since basically manure is manure. What Pig manure lacks, the others will compensate.

As long as its all rotted, you can use it now. If not, it sounds like it will compost quickly for use soon.

grab as much as you can, you can never have too much of a good thing when you have enough then decide what to do with it, it will not go to waste

my real concern was the bits of hay mixed in with it and whether this might bring some nasties in with it...

If you mean possible aminopyralid contamination that is a legitimate concern.

Some info in this thread (but in a nutshell, ask about the source of the hay, or do the bean test.)
