As a newbie to growing raspberries (summer variety) I've noticed the older leaves have been shriveling up and dying as early as August. Currently it's only the newer leaves more than halfway up the plants that appear healthy.

Is this usual?

The leaves in the middle of the cane group will not get enough light to stay green and so will go yellow and fall off.
