potatica gigantica

Dug up our caras yesterday, only to find that there were absolutely huge spuds, some eight inches by six inches

Mr Sunny insisted on keeping on digging, even whe he was really tired, as he was so excited  :D :D

They will be all laid out to dry on a sheet in our dining room later today, and then safely put away for the winter.

I don't expect the others to be as big (Pink Fir Apple and Yukon Gold) but those we furtled up by hand from the top of the earthings up were a pretty good size  :) :)

That's not a potato.  That's an alien species
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Great stuff Sunshineband  :)

It seems that it's a good year for spuds.
I've dug up my Desiree and Cara, and have been amazed at the size. A fellow plot holder has been digging massive Kestrel and Nicola for the last couple of weeks.
Those of us on our site that used potato fertilizer have done very well this year. Did you use any for yours?
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................

I suppose there had to be something it was a good year for. Sadly, I only grew a few spuds in bags and the second earlies never had a chance to grow very big because something ate all the leaves.

I did actually use some different fertilser this year, which I had forgotten about until I read your post, Comfortably Numb.

I bought some on ebay from
