SCAB ON MY SPUDS ?????

SCAB ON MY SPUDS ?????

As i dig up my spuds i find that every one of them have a brown scab on the skin, it doesnt go into the flesh, what is it please and what can i do to help ????

It is indeed called scab, caused by too much alkalinity and I think can also be watering related.

It doesn't affect the cooking and eating quality of the spuds; just cut the skin off.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

some varieties are more prone to it than others, but as Yorkie said, it is worse in a dry year.

Mine were worse this year than last  :(

Mine also have scab and it's probably related to the weather.  It's purely cosmetic and I eat them skins and all. :)
