Punk isn't dead...it's underground where it belongs. If it comes to the surface it's no longer punk...it's Green Day!

At the risk of ending up on the naughty step, and I know our dear friend Kristen will probably cringe when he sees I have replied  :D

Not at all. "Ask two gardeners and you'll get three different opinions!"

I think that experienced gardeners know / remember what they do, what worked, etc.

But for myself I set about creating a spreadsheet with a similar chart to the one on the site here, but with additional columns for Variety / dates sown and so on.

If I copy a line for Potatoes 3 times - because I have 3 varieties this year - it retains the planting date information (which I can change if appropriate for the variety)

I can take last years and "maul" it easily (far more easily, for me, than pencil and paper which require starting from scratch each time)

I can look back against previous years (also true of pencil & paper, and good memories!)

I can sort it by planting date, or by variety, or by a column I have ticked to say I need to buy more seed.

I expect that a computerised approach is of more value to newer growers without the experience of years, and to people who are "handy" with computers.

There was discussion on this a year or two back - maybe it was a poll about "How do you keep crop records" - I forget the exact details, but someone (GrannieAnnie maybe?) said something like "a blackboard on the back of the shed door, wiped clean once a year".

Hi I am looking for a sowing calendar for use on my allotment. We are based in Lancashire and most of the calendars I have seen on the Internet are relevant to the south and London etc is your planner relevant to my area?
