Hi all, I have candled the 5 eggs under foster mummy on day 6 and tbh I think there are only 2 definites but?? not certain on this. My question is that because I am such a novice with hatching eggs what should I do with regards to eggs that are not viable. I know people say they can explode etc. but what happens in the 'wild' ? Can't they just stay under her until say day 22 to be sure there is no chick waiting to arrive? I'd hate to get rid of and egg that IS viable. HELP!

Leave them with your broody as she will kick out any eggs she feels are no good in the end.   Try to resist candling them so as not to upset her!! 
Natures been doing it a while and I know how hard it is not to be involved (im the worlds worst for waiting around!  )

also not all eggs hatch on day 21 - I have had them hatch on days 27 and 28 under broodies so patience is called for sometimes

lol I wish i'd never done it tbhespecially with just 5, I didn't know then that doing it can harm the foetuses either. I wont bother next time.

Joyfull really that long, ok good to know that from what I've read most people seem to give up on day 22 if no noised heard, so thanks for that.

I'm just hoping for at least 1 little chick  if we get none the kids will get over it but I'm not sure I will!
