seed saving
« on: August 04, 2011, 10:41 »
I am soon to get my next years catalogue of seeds and still have quite a few left over from this year.
my question is which seeds dont save from plants this year? i know the F1's are no use.

thanks

F1s are fine for next year, assuming you have kept the seed pkts dry and not too hot :)
(The no seed saving rule for F1s, means not to save the seeds that the plant grows, rather than keeping what's left in packets)
I can only think of parsnips and sweetcorn that don't keep very well.

I think the question is purely aimed at saving from plants.

Basically the answer is "all of them" with different levels of difficulty and problems - e.g. some cross pollinate more easily with "interesting" results. Which do you have in mind?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
