Hi all,
Out of 7 hens 1 is an old lady, one has just stopped being broody and 1 is in a moult, so we don't expect eggs from them. Lack of eggs isn't a problem as they are pets first and foremost, however after getting 3 or four eggs a day we are now lucky if we get 2.

This has been happening for a week now, and it coincides with strange behaviour from 2 of them who are 13 months old.  They are both bending forward and fluffing themselves up and "growling" and behaving a little strange, in fact they seem to be acting like a cockerel, showing the others where food is.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if there may be a problem, I would hate to leave them if they need help in some way.

it could either be a pecking order thing or they are broody (the growling and showing where food is are signs of this)
