Hi all,

Hubby and I are looking to get some chooks next year. Been looking at some coops and runs and saw this one at a great price but don't know if it will be any good, would really appreciate some feedback.

We hope to get 4 girls and while they will be kept mainly in the run they will be allowed to roam in the garden when I'm home.

Hiya,

Minimum recommended run size per hen is 2sqm.
While the coop looks OK I think the run being only 1 sqm is far too small, but if hubby can extend it you can't go far wrong for that price.

Aahhh, ok, the area I have to house the coop and run is 9ft x 18ft. Think I'll get a coop (high off the ground) and build my own run to fit the maximum area I have.

Now, seeing as my girls will be allowed to roam in the garden each day for at least a few hours each day do you think I could house 4 girls or would I be best housing 3?

The more space they have the happier they will be.
With the coop raised off the ground they will also have shelter from the elements underneath  it.

9ft x 18ft is fine for 4 hens and still enough room for the extra girls you'll be buying next year.
