[1st time veg grower]

Because every tiny inch of my veg patch is always in use and I have to wait for one crop to finish before planting out the next, I've only just planted out my leeks from the deep tray they were sown in.

Last year they never made it to pencil thickness before getting planted out - no-where near - I waited and waited for them to reach that magic size and in the end gave up waiting and just planted them out. In fact they only bulked up at all in the spring. And they didn't germinate well so I didn't have many.

This year, most of them are well beyond pencil thick - including the later sowing I made again this year in march. Most of the seed must have germinated too as I have 42 of them... 30 of them are out on my raised bed now and I've planted the remainder (the smallest ones) up into tubs.

Anyway, just very pleased, even though I can't take any credit - I seriously haven't done anything different to last year - its even the same seed! Bizarre!
