some fellow plot holders were this morning admiring my lovely cauliflowers   ::)  and could I give them some tips !!  this is my third year or trying and has been the best so far but they are growing quicker than we can eat them guess I might have to freeze some;  :happy:
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

just tried a different variety "all year round"  my beetroot on the other hand seem to be taking ages to just even reach golf ball size  :blink:

I've tried that one and snowball but no good.

The curds go yellow and mouldy if they form at all.

it's our 1st year growing anything - we have 4 caulis in grown from seed they are still only small though but we are crossing our fingers they do as well as the cabbage and broccolis have

Wonderful feeling in't it Starry?  First time I've ever grown caulis - Andes & all year round ;)

Same problem with beetroot, they're nice tho'  :)

I put some lime and bonemeal in the hole before planting the seedling, then spread chicken pellets. Water in well then surround with slug pellets and and cover with debris netting. Water regularly if dry. As soon as I see the curd forming I tie the surrounding leaves together to avoid bolting. They are ready to eat around a week to ten days after this. Don't leave it any longer or you'll end up with a huge curd that is inedible

i follow a vey similar regime (but bear traps insted off slug pellets) and find A.Y.R. do very well. I also think the (old-fashioned idea) of tying the leaves over is a big help
