[Little weed]

This year our cherry tree had lots of blossom followed by the start of lots of cherries.  but that was it ! They just seemed to dry up on the tree. About 4 weeks ago the tree was attacked by black aphids, much more than last year.
Does anyone know why the cherries would dry up, is it anything to do with the aphids? and is there anything I can do to stop it happening next year?

Are you in one of the areas that's still drought plagued? If so, cherries need a fair bit of water to keep fruiting well. I've been watering my peach trees to keep them going but notice my plum tree is dumping shriveled plums as I can't get the hose that far.

No, we are not in a drought area, but we did have a very dry April,

That'll be the reason then for the loss of fruit 

Watering next year at that time might help a lot --- I soaked my friot trees once a week during the really dry spring and now am doing them again
