Ive grown lady christi and i can feed 5 of us from one plant now, when we first started eating them it took 3 plants as the spuds were much smaller.

when did you plant these ones? I'm not sure whether to touch the LC yet. I have dug up a wilija instead. It will feed us for two meals. For a first one - I am very happy.

Wilja are second early so leave them in for the time being and start on the LC-these are first earlies and in MHO are super flavour. I also have some rarish Vales Emerald and these are great too-will be hard to seperate but the VE might just steal it. I had Rocket as my earliest earlies and these are coming up HUGE-one was 13oz.! and we can`t eat them fast enough as they keep getting bigger with the recent rain-the neighbours are well chuffed...

because we only got the allotment in April - they both went in at the same time. The wilija plants were bigger (and more chitted when they went in) so I tried one first (and very nice it was too.

I will try the LC next time we dig one up.

Thank you for the advice

Nearly the same as here Ropster, perhaps slightly less than yours!

Do your Pentland Javelin boil well? The skins fall away quite quickly don't they, but the insides are superb!

dissapointed with  homeguard again this year so wont be growing them again small and had scab. but it has been extremely dry here.    when you have to peel them before boiling because of scab they are very floury or you blink and they have broke up although they did roast nicely.  started on the charlotte today and they are much better

I am peaved with me new pots this year, but that's my fault. Still, OK to comparison, stated here.

One plant, one meal for three and left over.

Not that good as usual, though. Nothing to do with the weather or fairies, I just planted them later than ususally would do.

Orla, BTW.

I always expect huge yields from spuds, and even though I should know better by now ::)
I'm usually disapointed with them, somehow it just seems that they could do better  :nowink:

Just had a furtle around and got 14 spuds from two plants (end of the row, so not the biggest). Average weight 100g, so that's tea tonight sorted.

I dug up 3 plants of Winston. Fantastic yield and size.

Out of curiosity I dug some Kestrals just to see how they were going. Not bad size but can wait a few more weeks.
Top tip for camping....don't go.

Best yields ever from all of my first earlies this year - sharpe's express, rocket, and lady ???? (faded label!). At least five spuds bigger than my clenched hand from each plant - as big as roasters - and numerous smaller ones. Can't explain it - might have had something to do with an unmetered water supply during the 6 week drought that we had down here though!

The two types of "Lady" early listed are Christl & Rosetta. I suspect it's the former.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

1.8 Kg so far from 5 out of 31 Sharpe's Express plants.. Quite pleased with this as they are on the "poorest" as in shallow and narrow part of the triangular potato ground. After the Sharpe's hopefully many lovely Lady Christl from 25 plants. :)
